Torchlight 2 (4)

Just like the original Torchlight before it, Torchlight 2 has broken the one million copies sold barrier. Runic announced the news on Twitter, stating “We had an amazing 2012, and proud to say that #Torchlight2 has sold over 1 million units! Thank you!”

The action-RPG sequel has reached one million sales much quicker than the original game. The first in the series had sold one million by July of 2011 (after an original release in October 2009), while Torchlight 2 has hit the milestone in just three months (following a September 2012 release).

Thanks it its popularity, it also scooped the IncGamers Readers’ Award for Best RPG of 2012. Not a bad way for Runic Games to celebrate the end of the year.
