Olivers show off Dizzy Returns concept art as Kickstarter fails

The Oliver twins were hoping that the classic Dizzy character and world would make a comeback when they launched their Kickstarter campaign but sadly the projext has fallen well short of their target goal.

Having raised only£24,715 of a £350,000 goal, there’s real disappointment at the studio.

The majority of video game Kickstarter projects have been in production for some time, with some having been literally years in the making, and of course this wasn’t the case with Dizzy Returns. As we have learnt all too well, starting the campaign this early in pre-development has made it much harder to communicate our vision of Dizzy Returns, and there’s no denying that we should and could have done this better.

As they point out, they would need to raise £40,000 per day to reach their goal, and let’s face it, that’s not going to happen.

With no gameplay to show, the team have worked on concept art for locations and characters and these are now being revealed each day as the Kickstarter winds down.

It just goes to show, not every “classic” franchise is going to make it on Kickstarter. I think this proves that the more you have to show when you launch a project, the more likely you are to succeed.

R.I.P Dizzy Returns. For now at least.

Read our recent interview with the Olivers to see what could have been.
