Karateka gets ready for launch6 Nov 2012
The classic Apple II title Karateka is will be with PC gamers in the not too distance future through Steam as Jordan Mechner has announced that the 360 version will be releasing on 7 November.
Many of you may not be old enough to remember the classic original, but it was a superb fighting in title in which you took your hero on a mission to save Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma. Running down the halls from left to right fighting your way to the end and taking out a few flying birds along the way, which were damn hard if I remember correctly.
This new version differs somewhat from the original with three heroes instead of one, a fearsome Brute, a Monk, and her brave True Love. The game is not massively long, it should take around forty minutes to complete but you can take the challenge with each character and the only way to unlock the romantic ending is by completing it as the “True Love”.
This remake of the classic has been developed by Liquid Entertainment who also worked on the RTS Battle Realms which was released back in 2001. Other credits in the game include art by Jeff Matsuda (Batman: The Animated Series) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization IV).
There’s no exact release date for the PC version but it will be coming to Steam this month along with a trial version. Watch this space for a final PC release date.
