The outspoken creator of Minecraft, Markuss ‘Notch’ Persson, has stood in the way of Microsoft’s attempt to certify the game for Windows 8.

Notch is not a fan of the new operating system, and apparently told Microsoft as much.

“Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help “certify” minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform,” reads one of his tweets.

He goes on to say:

“I’d rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way…”

Minecraft should still run just fine on Windows 8 without certification, only there will be no guarantee that it won’t restart your system when booted (which is one of the rules for certification).

So what say you? Is Microsoft trying to ruin the PC as an open platform and should we be convincing people not to make the switch?
