US election will soon be canvassing your Xbox 360

Come 27 August, the Xbox Live dashboard for US users will be awash with additional US election features (whether you want them or not). An ‘Election 2012′ hub will be launching on that day, complete with NBC news coverage, polls and even voter registration with Rock The Vote.

USA, a “nonpartisan, independently funded research initiative” will be putting up videos dealing with the major issues of the election, and there’ll be live feeds from both the Democratic and Republican conventions. The Presidential debates (when they take place) will be up there too.

“We want to provide our passionate Xbox LIVE community with a great way to experience the election process with TV that makes them participants – and not just viewers,” says Microsoft’s Marc Whitten as he ticks off another demographic box.
