Binding of Isaac remake planned for PC and (possibly) consoles
Edmund McMillen is working with a mystery publisher (and the help of a new team) to remake The Binding of Isaac, with the hope of releasing it on PC and consoles sometime next year. As well as the exciting prospect of removing Isaac from the shackles of Flash (anyone who’s experienced slowdown in the game will know why that’s a good thing), McMillen wants to add local co-op to the mix.
But that’s not all. The remake will, according to McMillen, “be more than just an expansion, it will be a new game with all new graphics, music, etc it will also feature an expansion sized pack of all new content, bosses, characters enemies, items etc.” Isaac’s creator also adds that the game will be rebalanced and he hopes that the cost will be around the same price as the original plus its expansion. McMillen is “not the one investing money in this remake at all” though, so any pricing will be out of his hands.
Both Xbox Live and PSN editions are possible, with Microsoft and Sony said to be interested in the game, but again McMillen stresses that “it’s all up to the publisher handling the remake”.
For more details, have a read of his FormSpring (or even send him a question if you fancy). Oh, but don’t send any lame jokes about Hurricane Isaac. He’s heard them all.Related to this story
