As other Skyrim players look forward to ‘Hearthfire’, the game’s poor old PS3 userbase is still waiting for definitive news about whether ‘Dawnguard’ will ever appear on their system. The latest word from Bethesda is not too promising, with the author of an official forum post stating that “This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve.”

Precise details of what the problem is are not forthcoming, but are likely to be related to engine limitations that would result in serious slowdown on PS3 versions of the title after extended periods of play. Fallout: New Vegas suffered from similar problems on the PS3.

“We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we’re working hard to deliver the content you guys want,” the post adds.
