Mass Effect movie to be based on first game, script finished
It seems that the script for the Mass Effect movie is finished. Mark Protosevich, writer of the I Am Legend and Thor movies, has penned the script.
A post by production company Legendary Films states that the movie will be centred on the “story of the original Mass Effect game” and “focus on Commander Shepard’s journey”. That’s a backtrack from the original plans Legendary had for the film, the company saying late last year that it wouldn’t be based on the story from the games.
No news on who going’s to play Shepard or who will direct the movie. It has been confirmed, however, that Shepard will be male.
Legendary would not comment directly on whether they plan to make the movies out of the other two games in the series, merely saying:
“We are really focused on making this a great movie, so we’ll see where it takes us. We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more.”
Excited for a Mass Effect movie? Think it should follow the story from the games? Who should play Shepard.
Given fan reaction to the third Mass Effect game, those are questions that are unlikely to be answered in a manner that pleases everyone.

Liam Neeson for Shepherd!
Way to old Shepard is in his late twenties , Liam great actor wrong age.
Matthew Fox for Shepherd.
If Shepard is going to be male then you need someone wooden like he is in the games…
Matt LeBlanc for Shepard!
Mark Meer for Shepard and Seth Green for Joker!
Seth Green is not in it. That’s been confirmed already.
No, they changed that, they said they weren’t closing any doors on actor Seth Green.
I am calling it right now. Sam Worthington is going to be cast as Shepard. He is Legendary Picture’s go to guy when it comes to action like this.
Matthew Fox
I definitely think they should stay as true as possible to the games story. The story was one of the strongest aspects of the game by far, and too many times I’ve seen video game movie adaptations fail and think if only they hadn’t deviated so far from te story being told in the game.
If there were ever a movie to take the risk of mirroring a games story, mass effect is the series that could pull it off.

A movie about reunion with with LI..would have been way better. But yeah, i still excited. But not overwelmed.. yet.
I’m thinking Gary Oldman for Saren
Ben Affleck for Commander Shepard!
BEN AFFLECK! What are you on! Why ruin a film before you have even made it!
I’m not sure what to think. A movie kind of makes me feel like the film is going to ruin my experience as a ME player. Like, what choices will Shepard make? Very hard to make a movie out of this.
I wish people would stop saying Matthew Fox. He is too old and looks nothing like default male shep. Paul Walker or Logan Marshall Green are far better picks. They are the right age and have the right look.
why would the actor have to look like Shepard? Shepard looks different to everyone. my Shepard doesn’t look like the guy in the picture in the article.
also, Paul Walker? No. The guy can’t act and he doesn’t deserve the role. Sure, he’s good in Fast & Furious but you don’t need to be able to act in that.
Paul Walker or Logan Marshall Green for Shepard!
NONONONONONONONONOONONONONONONONONONONONOOOOOOOONONONONOOOONOONOONOONONOONONONONONONONONONONONO.
NO.
How can anyone possibly think this is a good idea? NO. NONONONONONONONONONONONONO
Femshep for Shepard
Dominic Purcell looks and sounds like Shepard. You should know him from Prison Break.
Matthew Fox as Shepard, no doubt about it.
Paul Bettany from Legion for Shepherd
liam neeson for Saren. He’s done villain before, just like Batman Begins.
For Sheperd is a toss up between Sam Worthington just like Masseffectfan said, and possibly Channing Tatum (Don’t Dismiss him! Give yourself a moment to think about that! LOL).
Tell you what though, i think that i wouldn’t mind seeing someone like Jeremy Renner or Matt Damon become the hero!
Then again, i have had one too many drinks!
I’m confused. Mass Effect is so much more than a movie… why dumb it down for people who can’t use a mouse? Do something different…really really different. The brilliance of Mass Effect is that it puts you in the movie – you’re actor, director, producer, writer, stuntman… That’s what I loved about this series!
We have to fix the revenue model somehow when the good stuff makes a few bucks then you have to dumb it down and linearize it for the big bucks. Stupid.
