Rayman Legends for Nintendo’s Wii U received an extensive showing at Ubisoft’s E3 2012 press conference today, including a demonstration of how co-op will work.

Playable with up to five players, co-op features different control schemes depending on which character you choose and which input system you have available. The Wii-U Gamepad (touch screen tablet thing) and Pro Controller are supported, as well as the original Wii’s Wiimote.

The gameplay demo showed a guy on the Gamepad controlling a small green character known as Murphy, who was cutting ropes to lower bridges, smashing items to unleash collectibles and attacking enemies by using the touch pad only. Tilt control is also being implementing.

Depending on which character and control system you’re using, each player looks to be doing completely different actions and serving a completely different role when it comes to getting through levels.

We’ll have more on Rayman Legends as E3 2012 continues.
