Nintendo announce Pikmin 3 for Wii U
Shigeru Miyamoto took to the stage at Nintendo’s E3 2012 press conference today to announce a new entry into the Pikmin series. Pikmin 3 will be exclusive to the Wii U and will arrive at the console’s launch.Like previous entries in the series, Pikmin 3 is a real-time action/management game involving little colourful freaks that can be build, destroy, carry and fight.
A new Pikmin type was announced, the ‘Rock Pikmin’.
Motion Plus technology, improved graphical resolution and the Wii U’s gamepad will improve gameplay and bring more strategic depth the game, Miyamoto promised.
The entire game can be controlled with the Wii U gameoad (the touch screen thing), or the Wii’s Wiimote and Nunchuk can be used. If you’re using the gamepad you can switch between four leader characters whenever you like.
Interestingly, matches can be recorded to then be watched back on your TV. The idea is to help you identify where you went right/wrong and how you can improve on a second playthrough.
