Obsidian may join Wasteland 2 kickstarter project

30 Mar 2012 by Paul Younger
Brian Fargo's (Wasteland, Baldur's Gate, Fallout) kickstarter project, formed to get Wasteland 2 off the ground, has been one of the success stories of the medium. Looking to raise $900,000 USD, the fund currently stands at around $1,700,000 USD. Today, Fargo's company inXile has announced that an agreement has been reached with Obsidian Entertainment to bring them on board with the Wasteland 2 project; but only if the fund reachs $2,100,000 USD. The agreement would benefit the project in two ways. Firstly, Obsidian's Chris Avellone (who worked with Fargo at Interplay/Black Isle) would "work with our team on the design and writing of the game". In addition, "a host of tools that Obsidian has created ... will help us get assets into the game faster". All programming work will remain with inXile. To read the full details, head over to the Wasteland 2 kickstarter updates page (linked at the source below), where you can also read information and instructions about contributing. You have until 17 April. Source: kickstarter.com
