Mass Effect 3 is well on the way to recouping development costs having gone straight to number one in the UK software charts in its opening week.
GfK Chart-Track stated that week one sales of the trilogy’s finale were higher than those of the first two games combined. However, it’s important to note that Mass Effect 3 is the first in the series to be released on 360, PS3 and PC on day one.
Read our glowing review of Mass Effect 3 here. We’ve also got a break down of our top ten Mass Effect characters here.
Two other new releases made it into the top ten, one was Capcom brilliant beat ‘em up mash-up, Street Fighter x Tekken (read our review). Despite having to go up against the Mass Effect 3 behemoth, it managed a very respectable third. The other was The Sims 3: Showtime expansion which entered in sixth (making four of the top 10 EA games).
Last week’s number one, SSX, continued to sale well moving down just one place to second.
