No Mass Effect 3 at GAME

29 Feb 2012  by   Paul Younger

GAME’s troubles have been ongoing for a while now as they fight for survival, but the latest blow to the retailer is the news that EA’s blockbuster release Mass Effect 3 will not be sold at GAME, and in fact none of EA’s new titles are expected to be on the shelves in March.
Game issued a statement to all Mass Effect 3 customers:
Unfortunately we are not in a position to supply our customers with Mass Effect 3. As dedicated gamers, we know how disappointing this will be and we apologise sincerely for the inconvenience that this will cause.
We value our customers very highly and customers who have already preordered will be contacted shortly with more information.
Gamers who pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 will be awarded £5 in reward card/elite card credit as compensation.
Since the news broke of the problems with EA, GAME’s shares have crashed by a further 20% to 5p.
According to MCV, US retail giant Gamestop are still looking at buying GAME but there’s apparently a sticking point with the Australian arm of GAME. Gamestop already owns chains of EB in Australia and doesn’t want to commit to more high street stores.
If you have any EA titles on pre-order with GAME it would be wise to check and see if they are going to be stocked. While £5 compensation is at least something, you’re probably more concerned about getting your hands on the game itself.
