To me, a machine plus a pig equals sausages. To other people out there, machines for pigs equals horror. Oh well, to-may-to to-mar-to.
Anyway… the first info regarding Frictional Games’ Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs have come to light.
Firstly, the game is set in 1899, 60 years after the events of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. However, this is not a direct sequel but it will take place in the same world. The game’s protagonist goes by the name of Oswald Mandus, a “rich industrial tycoon” who finds himself in London on New Year’s day with a bad case of amnesia. I didn’t see that one coming.
All we know about Oswald is that he’s been in a coma following “disastrous and tragic” events that took place on a trip to Mexico. He’s now on the hunt for the truth behind a machine in saw in the central American country.
Dan Pinchbeck, of Dear Esther fame, will lead design and write the game, will Frictional taking development duties using their HPL2 engine. Scares are expected.
Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is to be released on PC, Mac and Linux – hopefully before Halloween 2012.
