Swedish FPS aiming for 1,000 player online match

Update:
Man vs. Machine achieved 999 players.
Original Story:
This Sunday, 29 January, Swedish non-profit developer MuchDifferent is aiming to host a 1,000 player deathmatch on its own PC FPS Man vs. Machine. Their hope is to set a new world record.
Man vs. Machine is a browser-based shooter that will only be available for the duration of the world record attempt – so, no, you can ‘t get some early practise sessions under your belt.
MuchDifferent are hoping to host a match of 500 vs. 500. The match is set to kick off (via the game’s official website) on 15:00 GMT/10:00 EST of 29 Jan – so make sure you login prior to that, because once the 1,000 slots are taken no more players will be allowed in.
Currently, there is no official world record for the highest number of players in a PC multiplayer game. There is, however, a benchmark for most player in a console multiplayer game (MAG with 256 players).
MuchDifferent’s website has all the info you need to take part.
