Sengoku patched up
Paradox’s dynastic Japanese strategy title Sengoku has received its first major patch, which aims to prod the AI into shape and clear up a couple of other bugs.
The full patch notes (linked below) give an exhaustive run-down, but the general theme seems to be that the AI in the game should not be better at handling its finances and how it reacts to things like plots, wars and peace agreements.
Multiple ‘gamebalance’ tweaks have been applied too, along the lines of “External ploters are more careful when joining an internal plot that is weak” and “Vassals may get an event that will make them ask for a title from their clan leader”.
Mercifully, a ‘back’ button has been added to the interface (it may seem like a small addition but believe me, it isn’t).
One of my main issues with Sengoku, highlighted in the review, was a feeling of detached emptiness; so an increased number of in-game events should help with that. AI improvements are welcome too, especially if it increases the number of plots flying around (or makes it actually possible to coax enemy vassels into your clan).
Steam versions of the game should automatically have updated. Non-Steam users should hit ‘update’ in the game launcher.
