That’s 23% more than Fifa 11.
EA have announced that worldwide sales of Fifa 12 have hit 3.2 million units since the game’s launch on 30 September, just five days ago.
Those figures make it the biggest launch title ever for EA Sports, selling 23% more than Fifa 11 over the same period. It also makes it the third biggest videogame launch of all-time, behind Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Not only that but EA are claiming that 1 October saw the busiest day of online gaming for any EA Sports game, with over 10 million Fifa 12 matches taking place. As of the writing of EA Sports’ latest press release, over 200 million minutes have been spent by players online in Fifa 12.
“Fifa 12 is a stunning achievement by our team at EA Canada,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice-President of EA SPORTS.
“The massive Fifa online community has overwhelmingly connected to the new live services in the game, including EA SPORTS Football Club, and we intend to keep them engaged all season long as Fifa 12 follows the heartbeat of the football season.”
