Super Meat Boy To Receive Free Levels On XBLA

23 Sep 2010 by Paul Younger
Team Meat, the duo behind forthcoming XBLA (and PC/Mac/Wii) title Super Meat Boy, have announced that the Xbox version of the game will be receiving some exclusive chapters absolutely free. They're able to do this by utilising something called Title Managed Storage (TMS) which, in Team Meat's words "allows us to add new chapters whenever we feel like it to the game." The developers are also quite pleased to be able to deliver this for free: "In a world where it costs $2 to unlock content in a game that you’ve already purchased it is nice to have the power to totally say “fuck you” to that system and go our own way." Admirable sentiments indeed. Each of the freebie chapters (going under the collective name of "Teh Internets") will contain 20 levels, with the first, "Butcher Boy" arriving with the game on launch day - 20 October. Though these chapters are Xbox-exclusive (something, the developers say, that was necessary to get the game on the system in the first place,) PC and Mac users can look forward to a level editor. Team Meat hope to release this no more than six months after the PC version ships. Look below for a couple of screens from "Teh Internets."
