Cryptozoic Entertainment Acquires World of Warcraft TCG

The Wrathgate booster set for the tabletop game based on the World of Warcraft series is slated for May release, followed by Class Decks in June.The fate of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game’s license has finally been unveiled.  Cory Jones,  former Upper Deck Director of Brand and New Product Development and Blizzard Entertainment Director of Global Business Development and Licensing, and John Nee former Senior Vice President of Business Development at DC Comics have partnered to found Cryptozoic Entertainment.“Having been fully involved with the development of the World of Warcraft TCG from day one, I’ve always been passionate about taking it into the future,” said Cory Jones, Cryptozoic’s President and Chief Creative Officer, and formerly Blizzard Entertainment’s lead business and development liaison for the TCG.

New Studio: Atomic Operations From Industry Veteran

Gaming industry veteran, Chris Millar, has set up a new “interactive entertainment production studio” according the the press release, which will take care of IPs across “all media platforms”.The studio won’t just take on games, but will try to place its output across different media platforms.It’s not clear if the studio will be working on any games to begin with, but Millar; former Blizzard and Lionhead man, has said that the team is working “in a focused creative-driven team atmosphere with strong external partners.”The only other snippet of information which is worth reporting, but a tenuous link to gaming, is the schpeel at the bottom of the press release which claims that Atomic “is already in full development on their first unannounced project and planning to aggressively expand during 2010.”We’re trying to find out exactly what this title is, whether it’s a game or a porno.

F3AR Info Soon?

Monolith could be set to reveal infomation on the next title in the FEAR shooter series according to a Spanish mag.Over on Neogaf an advert in a Spanish magazine shows a some art for and upcoming feature on the next FEAR title which looks to be going by the name of F3AR.The hip and cool way they have used the ’3′ in the titl3 must have tak3n hours of brainstorming, but according to the magazine, w3′ll wait have to wait until  n3xt month for more info. The previous game, FEAR 2 Project Origin, scored reasonably well here on IncGamers so we do have high hopes for the sequel.

Train2Game Gets University Accreditation

Yes, the news you’ve all been waiting for, Train2Game has finally been accredited as part of a legitimate course at universities.The open learning provider has today revealed that its courses have been benchmarked against the Qualifications Credit Framework, and that a panel of education experts have agreed that the course is the equivalent of the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree.The games design course will launch immediately, while an additional Games Artist course will launch in April.Heading the University of Bedfordshire’s Department of Computer Science and Technology is Professor Carsten Maple, who said that the “extensive evaluation of the Train2Game course content demonstrates its significant value in providing the skills and knowledge necessary to progress in the gaming industry.
