Throughout 2009, Steam has seen a major increase in accounts, concurrent players, unit sales. The service has not only broken 25 million active accounts – 25% more than the previous year – but the service has seen over 2.5 million concurrent players, and over 13 billion average monthly player minutes. If that’s not enough, unit sales increased by 205% over the last year, which is the fifth year in a row the service has seen an annual increase in sales of over 100%. Crikey.”With the introduction of each new platform feature released over the years – such as the Steam Community, Steam Cloud, and Steamworks – we’ve seen corresponding growth in account numbers, concurrent player numbers and developer support for the platform,” said Valve president Gabe Newell. “As such, we plan to continue to expand and grow the platform to better serve the developers supporting the open platform and millions of gamers logging in each day.”Keep an eye on IncGamers for your Steam news – if anything on their piques our interest, we’ll report on it.
