Ubisoft Reveals Titles With New DRM
Ubisoft recently caused a stir by announcing its new anti-piracy system which requires online authentication and an always-on Internet connection while a game is being played.According to Softpedia (via PC Gamer), titles that are being looked at to include the new system are Splinter Cell: Conviction, Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic, Assassin’s Creed II, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the new Ghost Recon title.Whether all of these titles will feature this new anti-piracy measure is unknown as nothing appears to have been set in stone as yet.
Spellforce Series 75% Off On Steam
This week’s Steam Weekend Deal sees the entire Spellforce series down 75% in price.The deal drops the price of Spellforce – Platinum Edition, Spellforce 2: Gold Edition, Spellforce 2 – Shadow Wars, and Spellforce 2 – Dragon Storm.Spellforce – Platinum Edition contains both the original game and both expansions for £3.37 GBP, and the Spellforce 2 Gold Edition contains both Spellforce 2 and its expansions for £6.25 GBP.The Spellforce 2 expansions, Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm, are also available seperately for £3.49 GBP each.Spellforce is a hero-focused RTS that combines elements of both the RTS genre and the Diablo series to create a rather unique experience.

StarCraft II Officially Slated for Q2
StarCraft II lead producer Chris Sigaty has revealed that the anticipated RTS sequel will be released in the first half of 2010.StarCraft: IncGamers report that Sigaty pre-empted the question in a recent podcast Q&A that Blizzard “were targeting three to five months for the beta” and the team is “really at a three month period of time for the beta at this point.” We’ll see the game by the beginning of the summer, as Blizzard is “targeting the first half of this year”.

Mass Effect 2′s Hovertank DLC In March
BioWare has revealed that Mass Effect 2 will be getting its hovertank towards the end of March, in a DLC pack entitled “Firewalker.”Firewalker, due to hit the Cerberus Network in late March, contains five missions that use the new Hammerhead hovertank.Apparently, the Hammerhead can hover over the battlefield at 120km an hour, and it’s got a guided missile system so that you can hit your targets even when you’re doing some “aggressive maneuvering.”It’ll be free to all Cerberus Network members, which means that anyone who bought an original copy of Mass Effect 2 wil have access to it.

Supreme Commander 2 Demo Now Available On Steam
Valve and Square Enix have announced that a Supreme Commander 2 demo is now available exclusively on Steam, and that the full version of the game will support Steamworks.We imagine most of you are probably more interested in the demo, which contains two tutorial missions as well as two missions for the UEF faction.The announcement also mentions that the game will use Steamworks on release, regardless of whether you purchase the game online or through retail.This means that Steam will be required no matter how you pick up the game, but it does also grant you online achievements and auto-updates.
