Microsoft Working On Muscle Controlled Control System

Microsoft Reasearch is currently researching an EMG based controllerfor the use in videogame sand other input devices.The EMG system Microsoft Research has been working on has been demonstarted in a new video highlighting some of the applications that could benefit from an EMG (electromyography) based control system strapped the the forearm to decode muscle signals on the surface of the skin.The demonstration video shows a researcher playing Guitar Hero by pushing fingers together while strumming with the other arm removing the need for peripherals.

A new record has been set for the most money ever spent on a virtual item, after a player of the MMO ‘Entropia Universe’ shelled out $330,000 USD for a space station which was put up for auction by the Swedish developers, MindArk.

Mass Effect 2 Will Have New Game Plus

BioWare has confirmed that there will be a New Game Plus mode in highly anticipated game, Mass Effect 2 (ME2).New Game Plus is a system that allows players to play the game from the beginning with the same character and retain all their abilities, adding replayablity value to the game.This gaming option was originally going to be ditched because of the complexity of the game’s narrative, with decisions made by the player making it a bit of a confused chicken when importing saved game files from ME to ME2 (and eventually ME3).According to a post on the ME community forums, community coordinator, Chris Priestly said the decision to add the New Game Plus was made because it “was a valuable addition to the game then looked at ways of implementing it back into the game.

Achron Available For Pre-Order

Hazardous Software has announced that Achron is now available for pre-order.Those who pre-order Achron now will have a while to wait before they get the full version in their hands – the current projected release date is 1/1/11 – but purchasers will get access to a regularly updated build of the game, currently containing a smattering of single-player and tutorial levels.Achron is an RTS with a difference: the ability to move forwards and backwards in time, and see the effects of actions.

Capcom Delays Major Titles

Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Dark Void and Monster Hunter Tri have all been delayed in a bid to “maximise sales volume” according to Capcom’s latest investor report.The document states that by doing this the company can “avoid competing with major titles” from other publishers and that it will “preserve the value of Capcom’s titles.”In addition to this, Capcom has slashed its sales forecast figures, with Dark Void (released later this month) the only title to have a revised figure of less than half of the official forecast, dropping from an expected 1.3 million sales units to 600,000.
