AoC Long-Term Subscription Costs Reduced

Funcom has announced that it has reduced the cost of Age of Conan’s multi-month subscription packages, doubling the previous discount offer.Players who sign up for three months will now receive a 20% discount, a six month sub gives players a 30% discount, and if you sign up for a year, you save a whopping 45% on the cost of the regular monthly fees.Funcom is also making it possible for players to benefit from the new Veteran System as soon as gametime has been added to an account, as Veteran Points will be awarded immediately.

Steam news reports that the Left 4 Dead 2 demo is now pre-loading on Steam for those who have pre-purchased the game.The early access kicks off on Tuesday 27 October and is available to retail and Steam customers for both the 360 and PC versions.

PC Borderlands Won’t Unlock Early

A few retailers have sold the PC version of Gearbox’ Borderlands early, frustrating gamers lucky enough to get their hands on it.The PC version is not scheduled to go live until next week which has prompted a response from 2K’s community team:Yesterday we learned that a fraction of the PC copies of Borderlands were accidentally sold to consumers in some countries but that gamers could not activate their copies yet.

Blizzard: Don’t Buy WoW Gold

Blizzard Entertainment has published an article addressing players of its MMO, World of Warcraft, explaining the pitfalls of buying in-game currency from third-party sites and companies, and of using power-levelling services.The article informs players that the vast majority of gold that is up for sale comes from compromised accounts, and that by purchasing it, players support the companies who set out to fraudulently obtain account details.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Beta Sign-Up Errors

Bioware has informed fans that anyone who signed up for the beta test of its upcoming MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, using a 64-bit version of Windows or Internet Explorer may have inadvertently failed the application due to an error with the system scanning software.“When using Internet Explorer 64-bit, the system scanning program will either fail, or it will appear to have completed properly and submit your data, but it will actually fail to scan your system or submit your specifications to BioWare.”Applicants are being encouraged to use the 32-bit version of IE, or to switch to another supported browser to get around the issue for now.

Killing Floor ‘Level Up’ Free Content Goes Live

Killing Floor’s second free DLC pack, entitled “Level Up,” has gone live.We revealed a bit of info about the pack last week – that it would have seven new weapons, three new maps, a new Demolition perk, a new Specimen enemy, and that all perks would have their level cap raised by one – and now it’s finally here.Your copy of Killing Floor should update automatically through Steam, and there’s also a Nightfall Character Pack which will cost you £0.99 GBP if you want some new skins, but the stuff you get for free… well, that’s the best stuff.The three maps are Wyre, Bedlam, and Waterworks.

Painkiller Resurrection Demo Recalled

JoWood Media has contacted IncGamers to state that the Painkiller Resurrection PC demo released earlier this week was apparently “done so in error.”Now, we’re not entirely sure what this means, how you erroneously release a demo or, indeed, how JoWood Media expects to recall the demo from those who have already downloaded it but we thought we’d let you know.The “correct version” of the demo will apparently be made available for download next week.The follow up to 2004’s Painkiller will sport improved visuals, multiplayer co-op gameplay as well as new weapons, levels and monsters.

New Modern Warfare 2 Screens

Activision has released a new batch of screens from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.The screens show off some of the varied new locales and a few of the vehicles set to feature in the game, including the snowmobile which will be driveable by the player.Modern Warfare is due for release on 10 November worldwide and Activision has organised a launch event in London’s Leicester Square.

Ubisoft Knows Setting For Assassin’s Creed 3

Ubisoft has revealed that it already knows where Assassin’s Creed 3 will be set.Speaking to CVG, Ubisoft Montreal studio head Yannis Mallat responded to a question about which “pivotal moments” the next Assassin’s Creed will visit by saying “oh yeah.”As for an “ending” for the whole story, though, particularly with what’s going on with Desmond – “Who talked about an ending?” said Mallat.”We know how to keep our secrets.

Codies: Modern Warfare 2 Is “Michael Bay Of Videogames”

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising developer Sion Lenton has described Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as the “Michael Bay of videogames.” Speaking to Eurogamer, the Codies man stressed that his statement was meant “in the nicest possible way” and that it referred to the hype surrounding the highly-anticipated sequel.“It’s kind of like the Michael Bay of videogames.

Dragon Age: Origins Dated For PS3

BioWare has dated the PlayStation 3 version of Dragon Age: Origins.We’ve known for a good while that the PlayStation 3 version would be coming a bit later than the launches of the Xbox 360 and PC versions (3 November in America, 6 November in Europe) but we know now exactly how long PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait.EA’s David Silverman reportedly confirmed to Joystiq, at a recent EA event in New York, that the PlayStation 3 version will launch on 17 November.
