AVP Sequel Might Feature Motion Control

There’s a chance that a sequel to forthcoming Rebellion title Alien vs Predator might include motion control. In a forthcoming interview with CVG, Rebellion’s art and design head Tim Jones has said that the company thinks motion control could be “exciting.””We’re always keeping a sharp eye on any new developments available to make games more immersive, and the new motion control developments look very exciting,” said Jones, adding “I don’t think the technology will be quite ready for us to use in this iteration of AvP – but maybe next time…”Talk of the sequel seems a bit early to us seeing as how we still don’t know much about the unreleased first game, save that it pits Aliens against Predators against Colonial Marines, which you can pretty much gather from the title.Sadly, it seems Jones refused to tell CVG whether or not we’re likely to see a multiplayer beta, or even a demo.

Dark Void Delayed

Dark Void has been delayed until early 2010.The jetpack-based shooter, due on PC, PS3, and 360, has been delayed in order to “avoid competition” according to Shacknews – which strikes us as amusing, as this presumably means that Splinter Cell: Conviction, Red Steel 2, BioShock 2, Mafia 2, Bayonetta, and a whole lot more aren’t considered “competition.”That’s not to say there’s nothing coming out for the rest of this year, of course, and we imagine by “competition” they mean “Modern Warfare 2,” but it’s doubtful we’ll find out for sure.We do think it’s a shame, though.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey Preview

There’s something about flight simulators and consoles that doesn’t quite work.  Despite the genre being focused primarily at the PC market, or even the Mac market, the simulator balance is never quite right.  This doesn’t mean there aren’t good arcade flight games out there with simulator aspects, but it does mean those that are used to the anal micromanagement systems find it hard to find any depth in console “simulators”.

Trine PS3 Delayed

Frozenbyte has announced that the PS3 version of Trine has been delayed once more. The physics-based platformer was initially supposed to be released online simultaneously with the PC version, which launched at the beginning of the month, and has also hit store shelves.Since then, PS3 owners have been left waiting, and this week’s release window has again been missed.Writing on the official forums, “FB_Lauri” – presumably Frozenbyte’s CEO, Lauri Hyvärinen – stated “Trine isn’t coming to PSN this week, and this time it’s our fault as there was discovered yet another small bug which needed to be fixed.
