Battlefield Heroes Goes Live
Electronic Arts has launched Battlefield Heroes, the free-to-play online shooter.
DICE has released the game which is hosted on the EA servers. As it’s a browser based game, it means it can run on almost any PC.

ARMA 2 Demo Released
The demo for the tactical PC shooter ARMA 2 has been released by Bohemia Interactive.The demo will offer first hand experience of some of the missions, equipment and gameplay you can expect to find in the full release.With over 20 vehicles and 25 weapons with more promised in the full game, a chance to get into the war-zone is available for everyone, especially those who are looking to pit this title against Codies’ Operation Flashpoint 2…You’ll aslo be able to access the boot camp training missions in the demo, so you can familiarise yourself with the game.A full single player mission and a multiplayer map are included, which will support three multiplayer modes for gamers to test their skills working as a squad.Check back for our review of ARMA 2 next week but for further details head to the official site.
DarkFall Expansion And US Server Announced
Developers of the MMO Darkfall have announced that a large free expansion will be released for the game in the first week on July, followed by the launch of the first American server.
Croteam Developing Serious Sam HD
Croteam is reportedly creating Serious Sam HD for Xbox LIVE Arcade.According to a press release, Serious Sam HD – an HD re-imagining of the first game – will hit XBLA late summer, for the princely sum of 1200 Microsoft Points.The original game was a superb throwback to first-person shooters of old, with lots enemies appearing everywhere, all of which requires judicious blasting.
Writer Hired For Second Hitman Film
Fox has hired a writer for a proposed sequel to the Hitman film.The writer has been named as Kyle Ward, according to IESB (thanks Shacknews).
EA Partners Still To Publish Rage
Electronic Arts has said that it will still be publishing id Software’s Rage.News broke yesterday that ZeniMax Media purchased Rage developer id Software.

Cryptic Studios has released information about another villain in its upcoming MMO, Champions Online.
Zeno Clash Receives Free DLC
ACE Team has announced that Zeno Clash will receive free DLC over the weekend called The Pit.Three new levels for players to explore will be included in the DLC.“Destructible floors and traps await the skilled who want to reach the bottom of the pit alive,” explained the ACE team.If you haven’t picked up the game yet Steam is offering 50% off this weekend for the title.
Square Enix Being Sued
100,000 customers are suing Square Enix for “unfair business practices, false advertising, and unjust enrichment.”The game that has put Square Enix in trouble is MMORPG Final Fantasy XIEsther Leong of San Francisco is the named plaintiff who brought the action to court and believes that Square Enix lied about or concealed its monthly fees.The group are looking for damages in the excess of $5 million USD.
Dawn of War 2 Getting Map Editor
A map editor has been announced for Dawn of War 2 and will come free with the ‘There is Only War’ update.This will be added along with the other additions planned for the update which we reported on last week.Gamers will be able to create new maps for the multiplayer community and will include urban, desert, tyrannoformed, and jungle map types.Terrain will be able to be modified, as well as having the choice to add cover, choose weather, and size of the map.User generated maps will have the choice of supporting two, four or six players.A sample map and user guide on the world builder will be included in the update.The beta for the update will be available in July with the final version being accessible towards the end of the summer.Check out the announcement at the Dawn of War 2 website here.

Co-founder of id, John Romero, has responded to yesterday’s acquisition of id Software by ZeniMax Media rather harshly.Shortly after news of the acquisition became public, Romero Twittered “ZENIMAX???????
