A new trailer for Eidos’ Batman Arkham Asylum is now available for viewing showing some of the game’s combat moves in action.

Battlestations: Pacific Demo Ships Out
Eidos have announced that a demo of Battlestations: Pacific has launched on Xbox Live and PC.The demo, which you can grab from Xbox Live or Steam, contains full tutorials as well as one mission from the US campaing, named “Divine Winds of Leyte.”The demo also features two multiplayer modes, Island Capture and Siege, which are playable against the AI in Skirmish mode.The full version will feature two single-player campaigns, with one from the American perspective and one from the Japanese, which together span 28 battles.
Sims 3 Details Online Feature Set
Electronic Arts have revealed the online features of The Sims 3.The Sims 3 will feature an online store, which allows players to download exclusive items, whether clothing or furniture.
City of Heroes Issue 15 Announced, Accounts Reactivated
NCSoft has announced City of Heroes Issue 15: Anniversary.The issue, designed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of City of Heroes which took place two days ago, adds in the usual raft of features and content.Players can expect new missions, costume pieces, faces, emotes, and a raft of updates to the Mission Architect added in Issue 14.In other City of Heroes news, the anniversary celebrations have led to NCSoft reactivating all trial and paid accounts to run until Sunday, giving players a chance to check out all the updates – including the Mission Architect, which is a bit of a big one.For more details on Issue 15, check out the official page.
Dawn of War II Soundtrack Released
Relic has released the Dawn of War II soundtrack for free.You can grab the soundtrack, which consists of 20 MP3s in 320kbps quality, by popping over the game’s page on the Steam website and scrolling down a bit.No Steam account is required to download the tracks, as it’s just an http link.You can check out our review of Dawn of War II here, or download the single-player demo if you feel like trying the game out for yourself.
Red Steel, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell Before Fiscal 2010
Ubisoft has given rough dates for Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2.Ubisoft’s official Red Steel 2 announcement states that the game is due out in the “2009 holiday season,” and is set in a “desert-bound, high-tech metropolis.” Other than the fact that the game will support and make extensive use of the Wii MotionPlus, we know little else about the title as this point.Ubisoft’s fourth-quarter sales data has revealed that Splinter Cell: Conviction, which we’ve heard little about recently, is also due for release at the end of 2009.The data also reveals that the fourth entry in the Ghost Recon series is due out before the 2010 fiscal year begins, which places it before April 2010.With all of these, and the announcement that Assassin’s Creed is also due in winter, it looks like Ubi is gearing up for a busy Christmas.

Street Fighter IV PC Has GfW, No Cross Play
Capcom has announced that Street Fighter IV’s PC release will use Games for Windows Live, but will not support cross-platform play.In a post on the Capcom Unity forums, Christian Svensson, Capcom’s VP of strategic planning and business development, responded to a question by stating “Yes it is GFW Live… unfortunately though, there is no cross play with 360.”This is certain to upset PC fans who were hoping to kick their 360-owning friends in the teeth, and sure enough, there are plenty of responses along the lines of “Big disappointment,” to quote one.On the other hand, PC users have previously been told that they may get the “definitive” version of Street Fighter IV, so we suspect there’s more in store – such as the art filters that the PC version will contain.PC gamers will be able to switch from normal graphics through a variety of graphical filters, including sumi-e inking, watercolour, and poster.We’re still not sure when Street Fighter IV PC will be launching, but the announcement is to be made on 1 May.
New Monsters For Hellgate: London
HanbitSoft has issued further details of what Korean players can expect in Hellgate patch 1.5.Seven monsters have been detailed, with some being brand new.The big one, apparently, is the Dragoon – a monster with a big sword, which buffs any other demons nearby, and can also fling magic your way and smash you over the head.

Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada, has told the Financial Times that the company is open to further expanding its operations in the West by acquiring more publishers.

World of Warcraft v3.1.1a Patch
Blizzard has released a new patch for World of Warcraft which takes the game to version 3.1.1a.The new small 7Mb patch addresses a number of issues and Blizzard issued the following comments on the patch:Faction mounts offered by vendors on the Argent Tournament grounds will have their visual appearances improved.You will find that the mounts being offered will better match the colors of the faction you chose to represent.
Anno 1404 Dated
Ubisoft has announced the PC version of Anno 1404, it’s real time strategy game, will be released on 26 June.
Left 4 Dead Patched
Valve has once again patched Left 4 Dead on Steam, fixing some minor problems.The patch, which should be automatically installed when you log onto Steam, fixes the following:Removed a survival related command exploitAchievements with multiple critera [sic] can now be expanded to show progressmp_gamemode is now included with other console variables for server loggingThis comes after the release of the Survival Pack for Left 4 Dead, which unsurprisingly added a survival mode to the game.This is the second patch following the launch of the Survival Pack.

Empire: Total War Major Patch This Week
The new Empire: Total War patch has gone into beta community testing and should be out this week.According to a post on the Yuku Total War forums made by a Creative Assembly team member, the main purpose of the patch is “to fix the AI aggression issues, remove the vast majority of game breaking crashes, and tweak the unit behaviour whilst laying groundwork for naval invasions.”The patch includes “over 70 bug fixes [...] plus a tonne of balance and feature tweaks.”We really, really liked Empire: Total War on release, and highly recommend it.

Ubisoft Working On New Driver Title?
Ubisoft has filed a trademark registration for “Driver: The Recruit.”Superannuation spotted the registration (thanks, Joystiq) which, we suspect, could be the Driver game that appeared to be in production following a BBC report last year.No word yet on anything other than the name, but we’ll update you when we learn more.
Fallout 3 DLC Getting Retail Release
Fallout 3’s 360 and PC DLC packs, Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt, may be coming to retail next month.Electronic Theatre reports that the retail release will be titled “Fallout 3 Downloadable Content: The Pitt and Operation Anchorage,” and will be hitting PC and Xbox 360, so the DLC is still unavailable for PS3 users.
