Nintendo Pii’d Off

After losing $975m as a result of game piracy, Nintendo have asked the US Trade Representative to take more aggressive combating piracy.

Nintendo have pointed the finger across the water at China, whom they suggest is the primary source of pirated DS and Wii games, and Korea as the leader of illegal distribution online.

“The unprecedented momentum enjoyed by Nintendo DS and Wii makes Nintendo an attractive target for counterfeiters,” said Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo of America’s senior director of anti-piracy.

Nintendo promises to carry on with the battle, taking it to “governments around the world to aggressively curtail this illegal activity.”

But is it too late, or is the piracy battle as long gone as that of the music industry?
